Warren Central bows out of Class 6A tennis playoffs with loss to Saltillo

Warren Central’s run in the MHSAA Class 6A tennis team playoffs ended Thursday with a 6-1 loss to Saltillo.

The No. 2 girls’ doubles team of Ellie Tennison and Avery Hern secured WC’s only point, with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory against Ava and Addi Joshlin.

Lilli Feibelman lost a competitive match to Carley Fryery in girls’ singles, 7-5, 7-5, and the No. 2 boys’ doubles team of Sam Harris and Brady Taylor lost 6-2, 6-4 to H.P. Tigrett and Warren Lucie. The Vikings only won a total of four games in their other four matches.

Although Warren Central bowed out of the team playoffs, its season is not over. The mixed doubles team of Sydney Sullivan and Luke Bond, and the boys’ doubles team of Harris and Taylor will play in the Class 6A individual tournament that begins Tuesday at Halls Ferry Park.

The Class 4A and 7A tournaments will also be in Vicksburg on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the 4A, 6A and 7A team playoff finals are Monday.
