Pottery sale to benefit WinShape Camp

For 10 years, Crossway Church has been the host for WinShape camp, a day camp for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The camp emphasizes indoor and outdoor moments, physical activity and creative play, with elements of faith learning. In addition to busy days of fun, the camp offers a special bonus: Chick-Fil-A meals on the last day of camp for all attendees. This year, the camp will run from June 3-7.

Once children arrive at camp, they are assigned to a group based on age. Completed kindergarten through first graders are assigned to a group called “Ocean.” Completed second graders through third graders go to the group “Alpine.” Fourth and fifth graders belong to the “Safari” group. Each group has official colors. Blue is for Ocean, red represents Safari, and green signifies Alpine. Each group also has its own songs and chants.

This year, in addition to other fund raising efforts, Crossway will sell pottery at the upcoming Old Courthouse Flea Market next weekend. The pottery is made by the children at church, then fired in a kiln at Academy of Innovation.

As part of the pottery décor, each piece is stamped with a logo reflective of the camp. Logos include the WinShape flag and symbols reflecting each group at camp. A circle with two wavy lines running across it represents the group designated “Ocean,” a square with two leaves is indicative of the group “Safari,” and a mountain outline represents the group “Alpine.”

Pottery of many shapes, sizes and colors will be available for purchase at the church’s booth at the Old Courthouse Flea Market on Saturday, April 27. Flea Market hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., located at 1008 Cherry St. Proceeds will benefit WinShape camp.
