Warren Central’s Maddox Lynch is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Maddox Lynch hit. He pitched. He won The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week award.
Lynch, a member of Warren Central’s baseball team, received 357 of the 1,005 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to win the latest edition of the award.
Vicksburg High track and field athlete Tyler Henderson won a tight race for second place among three track and field athletes. Henderson received 269 votes to edge out St. Aloysius’ Samantha Edwards (243) and Porter’s Chapel Academy’s Mia Abdo (159).
Lynch, a junior infielder and pitcher, led Warren Central to a sweep of Lake Cormorant in the first round of the MHSAA Class 6A baseball playoffs on April 26 and 27.
Lynch batted .500 (3-for-6) with three RBIs and one run scored in the series. He drove in the only run in a 1-0 win in Game 1, and pitched 3 2/3 innings with four strikeouts in an 8-3 victory in the Game 2 clincher.
For the season, Lynch is batting .333 with two home runs, 11 doubles, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored. On the mound, he is 3-0 with a 3.69 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched.
