Ronald (Ronnie) Melton Wheeler

Ronald (Ronnie) Melton Wheeler, of Vicksburg, born March 27, 1948, passed away Wednesday, April 24, after battling colon cancer.

He pioneered groundbreaking inventions like the concrete cross-tie machine and cardiovascular prep machine, earning multiple utility patents.

His creations, including a one-piece disposable hospital gown and HazMat Cooling System, showcased his dedication to advancing technology.

Honored by the Department of Veterans Affairs for his work on the Sultana Project, Ron leaves behind a legacy of innovation.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Milton Wheeler and Lillian Alice Regan Wheeler.

He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Kathy Thomas; former wife, Elaine Wilson and their children, Kim Horton (Harry), Danielle Wheeler (Adam Cole), and Joseph Wheeler; grandchildren, Hadley Horton and Harper Wheeler-Cole; and siblings, Joan McMillan, Dale Wheeler, and Gloria Jackson.

A celebration of his remarkable life will be held at Parkway Church in Madison Tuesday, May 7, 1 p.m. Donations to Childhelp in Ron’s honor are appreciated. Rest in peace.
