Texas authorites thank Pace, WCSO for efforts in apprehending suspect; says officers are en route to Missisissippi

Officials with the Webster Police Department in Texas say investigators are en route to Mississippi to continue a homicide investigation in which the most recent development came Tuesday morning when Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies apprehended a person of interest in the case.

WCSO arrested 29-year-old Marcus Thompson Tuesday morning after an overnight manhunt that began when the stolen car he was believed to be driving was found abandoned in Warren County off China Grove Road. Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the car was confirmed through license plate records as belonging to the victim in the Webster, Texas homicide.

According to information from Webster Police Department, officers responded to a welfare concern Monday at approximately 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Henderson Avenue in Webster, which is located in Harris County, Texas near Houston.

“Upon making entry into the residence, officers located a deceased 58-year-old female with suspicious wounds on her body and began a homicide investigation,” Webster PD officials said. “Investigators developed a person of interest named Marcus Thompson, who was witnessed leaving the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen and was later tracked in the State of Louisiana, before eventually being abandoned in Warren County, Mississippi.”

Webster PD expressed appreciation to Pace and WCSO for its efforts in Thompson’s apprehension.

“The Webster Police Department extends its gratitude to Sheriff Martin Pace and the deputies of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department for their timely and efficient response in locating Marcus Thompson and taking him into custody.Investigators with the Webster Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office will travel to Mississippi to continue the homicide investigation.”

Webster PD said the homicide remains an active investigation and more information will be released at an appropriate time.
