Photo Gallery: Chillin’ in the Hills 5K

The 15th annual Chillin’ in the Hills 5K was held Saturday in downtown Vicksburg.

Beginning and ending at Martin’s at Midtown, 1101 Belmont St., the race included a 5-kilometer run, a 5K race walk, and a children’s one-mile fun run.

Samuel Terrett won the overall 5K run championship with a time of 20:24, just edging out Will Bates by one second in a sprint to the finish.

Allison Kunkz won the women’s 5K run in 26:37.

Ronald Roma was the overall winner of the 5K race walk, with a time of 32:32, and Terrie Foster the women’s winner in 33:59.

Jonah Williams won the fun run with a time of 7:02. Bailey Williams ran the mile in 9:36 for the girls’ championship.

Approximately 100 people registered for the three races, which were the start of a longer day of fun. In addition to the run and walk, nearly a dozen local vendors set up booths in the restaurant’s parking lot, music was played, and a karaoke contest was scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

The Chillin’ in the Hills is a fundraiser for Grace Christian Counseling, which provides low-cost counseling and mental health services to people in the Vicksburg area.
