Alice Smith Young, a Vicksburg resident, passed away Wednesday, May 8, in the Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 76.

She worked for the Vicksburg Warren School District, Sears, and Ameristar Casino. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Daughters of the King.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Hazel Wright Smith, and her son, Andre Young.

She is survived by her sons, Allen Young III and Anthony Young, both of Vicksburg; her daughter, Angela Young of Arlington, Texas; her sister, Bertha P. Smith of Hoover, Ala.; and a host of grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14, in the Cedar Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Godfrey officiating.

Visitation was held Monday, May 13, in the Chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home from 5 until 6 p.m.
