Learn to Swim
Registration for the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program will be held at City Park Pavilion, adjacent to City Pool, from May 15-17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and on May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Learn to Swim program provides low-cost swim lessons to people of all ages throughout the summer. Each two-week session is taught by certified water safety instructors and includes eight 45-minute lessons. There are sessions for 3- and 4-year-olds, beginner adults, and varying ability levels, with morning and evening classes.

The cost is $15, payable by cash or check only at the time of registration. Because of high demand and limited space, registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

Sessions will be held June 3-14; June 24-July 5; and July 15-26. Classes are from 10 a.m. to 10:45 for Levels 1-3; 11 to 11:45 a.m. for Levels 4-6; and 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. for beginner adults and 3-4-year-olds.

WC softball tryouts
Tryouts for Warren Central’s softball team will be held May 20 and 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each day at Lucy Young Field. Tryouts are open to players entering grades 7-12. All players must had a copy of their grades, a current physical, and their own softball equipment.

VHS softball tryouts
Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s junior varsity and varsity softball teams will be held May 21 and 22, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each day, at the Softball Swamp field on Army Navy Drive. The tryouts are open to players entering grades 7-12. All players must have a current physical, and bring their own glove and gym clothes.

Ergon Charity Golf Tournament
The inaugural Ergon Refining, Inc., Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 16 at Clear Creek Golf Couse. The four-person scramble will begin at noon, with check-in starting at 10 a.m. and lunch at 11.

There are prizes for the winners of each of three flights, as well as for longest drive and closest to the hole. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Good Shepherd Community Center and Preschool.

Play 2 Wynn basketball camp
The Play 2 Wynn Girls Basketball Camp will be held July 22-26 at Vicksburg High School’s gym. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and drills will focus on basketball fundamentals and individual development. There will be 5-on-5 scrimmages as well.

River City Summer League
The River City Summer League, an adult basketball camp for aspiring pro players, will be held at the Jackson Street Gym, 923 Walnut St., on June 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. Players wishing to participate in the camp can email Grant Worsley at theworsleygroup@rocketmail.com. All players must have some college basketball experience.
