Tallulah Academy’s Palmer, Morson lead Navy past White in MAIS All-Star Game

In their final high school baseball game, Gage Palmer and Brayson Morson got the better of their current and former teammates.

The Tallulah Academy seniors combined to reach base three times and scored three runs to lead the Navy team to a 13-10 victory over the White in the MAIS Class 2A-3A All-Star Game Monday at Mississippi College.

Palmer doubled, walked twice, stole three bases and scored two runs as the Navy jumped out to an 8-0 lead after four innings. He also pitched one scoreless inning and had three strikeouts.

Morson walked and scored a run in the second inning.

Palmer and Morson both started their high school careers at Porter’s Chapel Academy before transferring to Tallulah.

The White All-Stars had two players from PCA and one from Tallulah on its roster, and all three had some highlights.

Tallulah’s Hayes Hopkins went 1-for-3 with a single, two RBIs and one run scored. PCA’s Chase Hearn hit a two-run single in the sixth inning, while John Wyatt Massey walked and scored a run in the eighth.

Briarfield Academy’s Ben Coullard was 0-for-1 with a walk, two RBIs and one run scored for the White.

Porter’s Chapel’s Thomas Azlin also played in the game, for the Navy All-Stars. He went 0-for-2.
