Riptide softball team wins two tournaments in Baton Rouge

The MS Riptide 18U softball tournament team won two tournaments in two days in Baton Rouge last weekend.

The Riptide outscored their opponents 60-5 in rolling to a perfect 7-0 record at the USA Softball and Memorial Day at the Park tournaments.

London Dickey was 9-for-11 in the tournament, with nine RBIs and seven runs scored. Kelby Harvey went 9-for-10 in six games, with seven RBIs and 12 runs scored, and was named the MVP of the USA Softball tournament on Saturday.

Kyleigh Cooper and Hallie Grace Malone split the pitching duties and allowed a total of three runs and 11 hits in 18 innings. Cooper had five strikeouts and Malone had nine.

Cooper was named the MVP of the Memorial Day at the Park tournament on Sunday. She pitched six innings in three games, only walked two batters and allowed one run on three hits. At the plate, she reached base four times and scored three runs.

Team members are Anzley Keen, Whitley Parks, Kyleigh Cooper, Ruthie Britton, London Dickey, Kelcie Robinson, Kelby Harvey, Anna Kiley Leal, Presley Brister and Hallie Grace Malone. The team is coached by Mike Foley and Brian Britton.

Cooper, Ruthie Britton and Brister play for St. Aloysius. Parks and Keen play for Warren Central.
