The Municipal Election Committee has certified the results of the May 30 runoff election for Vicksburg, making Thomas “T.J.” Mayfield’s election as the next Ward 1 alderman official.

Mayfield defeated Daryl Hollingsworth in the runoff by a final tally of 843 to 298 votes.

Mayfield will be sworn into office Wednesday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at the Ardis T. Williams Sr. Auditorium. The ceremony is open to the public.
