Radio Station WQBC celebrated its third birthday. • In a wrestling match. Rivers was given the decision over Berry on a foul. • Nathaniel Blackston and Katie Lee Phipps were married.

80 Years Ago: 1944

J.W. Garrett was announced as a candidate for alderman. • Eva Moffett returned from a visit to relatives in York, Ala.  • Mr. and Mrs. S.R. McBroom announced the birth of their daughter, Jackie Ann.

70 Years Ago: 1954

Dr. Harry Pierce was attending the Mississippi State Dental Association meeting in Biloxi. • Mrs. Frank Kearns and Mrs. Henry Fielder left for a six-week trip abroad. • Lt. and Mrs. Robert Ford Jr. announced the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth. 

60 Years Ago: 1964

Mr. and Mrs. A. O’Neill observed their 50th wedding anniversary.  • Robert Hamernik received a medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School. • Dewey C. Bell III received the St. Aloysius High School Alumni Association scholarship award. 

50 Years Ago: 1974

William Benjamin Strong Jr. received the Ciba Award at the 13th annual honors day at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. • Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Carter announced the birth of a daughter, Brandi Bowen. 

40 Years Ago: 1984

Mary Jeannette Coody died. • Delvin Michael King celebrated his first birthday. • Airman Charles F. Smith, son of Wilbert and Irene Kenney of Vicksburg, completed Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. • Services were held for Allen Bass.

30 Years Ago: 1994

Services were held for Norvel T. Satchfield of Tallulah.

20 Years Ago: 2004

One person appeared to speak in favor of the tax abatement ordinance that was being considered by the Warren County Board of Supervisors. 

10 Years Ago: 2014

Airport Director Sam Washington sought to raise awareness for the facility. • Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen were to hold finals. • Tapestry came to an end as a result of lower crowds and discontent over taxes.
