Summer tennis camp
The City of Vicksburg’s summer tennis camp will continue until June 27 at the Halls Ferry Park courts.

The camp runs Monday through Thursday, from 8 to 10 a.m. for beginners ages 5-18. The session for advanced players is from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

St. Aloysius sports camps
St. Aloysius High School will host several youth sports camps in June:

• The football camp will be June 17-20, from 9 a.m. to noon each day at the school’s football field. The camp is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, and will focus on fundamentals and fun. The cost is $100 per person.

• The volleyball camp is June 17-20, from 9 to 11 a.m. each day at the school’s gym on Grove Street. The camp is for students in grades 1-7, and will feature instruction from coaches Allison McSherry and Danielle Bergeron on fundamentals and how to play the game.

• The baseball camp is June 24-27 at Bazinsky Field. The camp is for children in grades K-6, and the cost is $100. For information or to register, email Allison McSherry at allison.mcsherry@vicksburgcatholic.org

Clear Creek golf tournaments
Clear Creek Golf Course will host two major tournaments in July.

The Clear Creek Club championship is scheduled for July 20 and 21, and is for club members only. The entry fee for the 36-hole stroke play event is $50 plus cart fees. There will be five men’s divisions based on age, as well as a women’s division.

The Warren County Open is the following weekend, July 27 and 28, with play beginning at 8 a.m. both days. The entry fee is $130 for Clear Creek pass holders and $150 for non-members. This tournament is open to everyone, and there will be four men’s divisions based on age as well as a women’s division. The deadline to register is July 26 at noon.

Clear Creek golf camps
Clear Creek Golf Course will host a summer golf camp July 1-3, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. each day. The camp is for children ages 5-15, and the cost is $130. For multiple siblings, the cost is $100 per golfer.

The camp is designed as an introduction to golf. Lessons will focus on beginner concepts, course etiquette, rules and swings. Golfers will play both in Clear Creek’s practice facility and on the course. Golfers are welcome to bring their own clubs, but equipment will be provided.

WC basketball camp
Warren Central’s basketball program will host its Fundamentals Mini Camp on Saturday, June 29 at the high school gym. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-12, and will run from 8 a.m. until noon. The cost is $40, which includes a free T-shirt and snack.

Play 2 Wynn basketball camp
The Play 2 Wynn Girls Basketball Camp will be held July 22-26 at Vicksburg High School’s gym. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and drills will focus on basketball fundamentals and individual development. There will be 5-on-5 scrimmages as well.

Star Spangled Night Run
Registration is open for the 7th Annual Star-Spangled Night Run 5K in downtown Vicksburg. The 5K run and 5K walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, at 8 p.m. and will begin and end at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center on Crawford Street.

In addition to the run, this year’s race will feature a block party beginning at 6 p.m. There will be live music by Keys vs. Strings, and Miller’s Southern Comfort Food will be set up. Drinks will also be available, and there are games for the kids.
The registration fee is $35 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under. After June 14, the fees increase to $40 and $25. The registration fee includes a race T-shirt, bib, and admission to the block party. There is a $7 entry fee for non-racers to attend the block party.

Celebrity basketball game
The 8th annual Back to School Celebrity Basketball Game is scheduled for Sunday, July 21 at Warren Central High School. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

The event is hosted by Vicksburg High alum and former NFL star Malcolm Butler and Jay Jones. Guests will include Grammy-nominated record producer Wheezy, a Vicksburg native, and social media star Kerwin Claiborne.

The Celebrity Basketball Game will be held in conjunction with the Malcolm Butler Football Camp, which is scheduled for July 20 at 7:30 a.m. at Vicksburg High School. The camp is for children in grades 1-12 and is free.
