Golfers young and old pack Clear Creek for weekly scramble, kids’ camp

No matter your age, Clear Creek Golf Course was the place to be on Wednesday.
A total of 62 adult golfers participated in Clear Creek’s weekly Senior Scramble, and 16 young ones packed the Bovina course for the second session of its summer youth camp.
The adults played an 18-hole tournament while the children played nine. The kids’ tournament finished a three-day camp that included lessons on course etiquette, rules and swings.
The Senior Scramble is held each Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. This week’s four-person scramble had a tie at the top of the leaderboard.
The teams of Mike Renfroe, Bud White, Bubba Hanks and Keith McKey; and Nate Leonard, Del Cox, Danny Scallions and James Edwards both shot 59 to tie for first place.
Three teams tied for second with scored of 60 — Tim Seachris, Jerry Harmon, and David and Cheri Williams; Steve Taylor, Harry Davis, Kent Twing and Rocky Fowler; and David Rogillio, Don Lagron, Larry Cook, Alice Ellis and James Harper.
Bobby Tullos won the closest to the pin award.
In addition to its weekly events, Clear Creek will host several tournaments this month as the summer golf season heats up:
• The Micah’s Mission 4 Person Scramble is scheduled for July 12. Contact Kim Barnes (601-831-7679) or Dee Harber (662-571-2595) to sign up.
• The Clear Creek Club Championship is July 20 and 21. It is for Clear Creek members only, with a $50 entry fee.
• The Warren County Open is July 27 and 28. The entry fee is $130, and the tournament is open to everyone. There will be four men’s divisions based on age as well as a women’s division.
