Vicksburg’s Makynzie Dunmore is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Makynzie Dunmore smashed one over the net in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.
The Vicksburg High volleyball player received 1,748 of the 2,823 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to win this week’s award.
St. Aloysius cross country runner Samantha Edwards finished second, with 553 votes. Warren Central swimmer Jacob Byrd was third, with 358 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy football player Jase Jung fourth with 177.
Dunmore, a senior, had three kills, three assists and six digs in a 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 26-28, 15-12) win over Callaway on Oct. 2 that clinched the Missy Gators’ berth in the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs. Dunmore totaled five kills, 10 assists and 14 digs in two matches last week.
Vicksburg lost 3-0 (25-4, 25-9, 25-9) to Lake Cormorant in the first round of the playoffs on Oct. 8.
