LILLIE ELVIRA BROOKS

Services for Lillie Elvira Brooks will be at noon Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 Friday night at the funeral home.

Miss Brooks died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home. She was 84.

A retired midwife, she was a member of King Solomon M.B. Church at Eagle Lake and the Mount Alban Union Society.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Brooks; her mother, Lucille Wilson Brooks; her stepmother, Margaret Brooks; a brother, Philip Brooks; and two sisters, Juanita Brooks and Arliner Devine.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rogers and Katherine Brooks of Vicksburg; a daughter, Nettie Marie Brooks of Austin, Texas; a brother, Lee James Brooks of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Long of San Diego; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

KATHERINE L. GILL

Katherine L. Gill died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Driftwood Nursing Home in Gulfport. She was 79.

A Vicksburg native, Miss Gill was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She served in the Women’s Army Corps in World War II.

She retired in 1983 from the Vicksburg Medical Center after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister, Rose Knight of Ocean Springs; a niece, Claudia Ray of Ocean Springs; and a nephew, James Knight of Ocean Springs.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Aguh, associate pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service.

STACY G. HOGGATT

Stacy G. Hoggatt died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 87.

Miss Hoggatt, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, was a retired federal employee. An artist, she was a member of the Vicksburg Art Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Stacy and Gertrude Martin Hoggatt, and a brother, John M. “Jack” Hoggatt.

She is survived by a niece, Harriett H. Smith of Ocala, Fla.; three nephews, John L. Hoggatt of Pearl, Allen B. Hoggatt of Gautier and Gregory M. Hoggatt of Clinton; and cousins, including Bryan Brabston and Newell Brabston of Vicksburg.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. William L. Carlin, rector of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. Saturday until the service.

Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg Art Association, 1204 Main St., Vicksburg MS 39183.

CLARA DARDEN KINCAIDE

Clara Darden Kincaide died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000. She was 95.

Mrs. Kincaide was a homemaker and member of King Solomon M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marie Lewis Darden, and her husband, Anthony Kincaide.

She is survived by two daughters, Elyane Concepcion of Portland, Maine, and Roby Barnes of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at King Solomon M.B. Church with the Rev. Will Moffett officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
