Robert Jackson Sr. with Corporation Personnel Services Temporaries wheels new city garbage containers off a loading dock into a storage building on Mulberry Street this morning. The 96-gallon garbage containers, which will be distributed to each house in the city of Vicksburg, are expected to be made available beginning Nov. 11. The company was hired by the containers’ maker, Toter Incorporated, to distribute about 10,500 containers to Vicksburg households as part of a new curbside collection contract that begins Nov. 1. The contract will allow customers to put out yard clippings with household garbage on the second day of collection each week. The cost to city residents for twice-a-week curbside collection will also go from $11.05 to $12.60 per month starting next month. (The Vicksburg Post/Melanie Duncan)
