Rev. Amos B. Brown

JACKSON The Rev. Amos B. Brown died Sunday, March 2, 2003, in Jackson. He was 96.

Born to the late Rev. Peter Brown and Tina Kinsey Brown in Newellton, Rev. Brown was reared in Tallulah and was a resident of Jackson. He pastored many churches including, Mount Alban Baptist Church in Bovina and Greater Northside Baptist Church in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Atlanta Brown; a sister-in-law, Charlie Flagg; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Mount Alban Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6 until the service Friday at the church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Northside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Garden Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.

Alfred Richard Budd Jr.

LITCHFIELD, Ill. Services for Alfred Richard Budd Jr. were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Church of Litchfield in Litchfield, Ill., with the Rev. Steve Revisky officiating. Burial followed at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Budd died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He was 78.

Mr. Budd was born in Williamsville, Ill., to Alfred Richard Budd Sr. and Ella Noonan Budd. He owned Budd’s Paint Service in Litchfield from 1968 until his retirement in 1995. He had also farmed and worked as a truck driver and bulk oil salesman and had been working as an attendant at Old Route 66 Car Wash in Litchfield.

Mr. Budd was a member of Christian Church of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John L. Budd; and three sisters, Betty Gilbert, Alberta Budd and Ellen Budd.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Lorraine Ealey Budd; three sons, Wayne Budd of Litchfield, William Budd of Springfield, Ill., and Donald Budd of Channahon, Ill.; three daughters, Lynda Perrine and Wanda Gipson-Wagner, both of Vicksburg, and Diana Parsons of Litchfield; two sisters, Helen Emerson of Springfield and Elsie Jacobs of Loami, Ill.; and 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Christian Church of Litchfield.

Evelyn Bonner Deal

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. Evelyn Bonner Deal died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Martinville Nursing Home in St. Martinville, La. She was 85.

Mrs. Deal was born in Aubrey, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Baxter Oliver Deal Sr.; her parents, William Frank Bonner and Cassie Smiley Bonner; a brother, W.F. Bonner Jr.; and a sister, Florence B. Holt.

She is survived by two sons, Baxter Oliver Deal Jr. of St. Martinville and Tom Deal of Monroe; one daughter, Daphne Culpepper of Monroe; a brother, Carl Bonner of Lake Providence; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Bill McLain officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Providence City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence and from 1:30 p.m. Friday until the service at the church.

Altee Linson Nickson

Altee Linson Nickson died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.

A native of Brookhaven, Mrs. Nickson was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Issac Nickson, and a daughter, Darlene Carson Tobias.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Linson of Vicksburg and Valerie Otis of Jackson; three sisters, Ester Carter, Maggie Carter and Jotel Carter, all of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Alice Tyler Wilson

Alice Tyler Wilson died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at River Region West. She was 69.

Mrs. Wilson moved to Vicksburg in 1998 after retiring as a teacher from the Chicago Public School System.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Robert Tyler; two sisters, Ora Lee Wooten and Lula J. Williams; and a niece.

Survivors include her husband, Allison P. Wilson of Vicksburg; her sister, Barbara Tyler Thomas of Ardmore, Okla.; and other relatives including, Linda W. Sandles and Johnny Williams III, both of Vicksburg, and Melvin C. Tyler of Jackson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family hour will be from 6 until 7 p.m.
