Walter Doss Sr.

Walter Doss Sr. died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at his home. He was 52.

Mr. Doss was a former employee of Rouse Rubber Co. and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Doss of Vicksburg; one son, Walter Doss Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Sharon Denise Doss-Williams and Angela Renee Doss, both of Vicksburg; his parents, Eugene Sr. and Mary Lee Fuller of Vicksburg; two brothers, Wilbert Doss of Vicksburg and Tommy Doss of Memphis; one sister, Shelda Doss Thomas of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Mattie Ella Weddington

PORT GIBSON Mattie Ella Weddington died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at the Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 79.

A resident of Port Gibson, Miss Weddington was a member of the choir and a past secretary at Mount Olive Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Emma Weddington; and 14 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Carl D. Weddington of Baton Rouge and Preston P. Weddington and Lonnie R. Weddington, both of Port Gibson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Derrick Smith, Marjerian Smith, Sonia Weddington, Lisha Weddington, Eric Weddington and Angie Scott, all of Lorman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in the Westside community with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight, with family hour from 6 until 7, at the funeral home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.
