OAK GROVE – Faye Williams Auger died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at her home. She was 85.

Mrs. Auger was a member of the Green Baptist Church in Oak Grove. She and her husband were founding members of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Willard Auger Sr. and one son, Sheriff T.W. Auger Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Auger and David Auger both of West Monroe, La.; and one daughter, Kathryn Lynn Wise of Oak Grove.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

J.B. Baldwin Sr.

J.B. Baldwin Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at his home in Ontario, Calif. He was 59.

Mr. Baldwin was born in Vicksburg and was retired as a wheel molder at Keystone Automotive Factory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Baldwin Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Mezon Sanders Baldwin; one son, J.B. Baldwin Jr. of Ontario; one daughter, Angela Baldwin of Ontario; his mother, Mary Pinkston Baldwin of Vicksburg; three brothers, Douglas Baldwin Jr. of Hollandale, Cleo Baldwin of Vicksburg and Calvin Baldwin of San Bernadino, Calif.; six sisters, Shirley Jackson of San Bernadino, Dorothy Barnum and Velma Hill, both of Vicksburg, Johnnie Holman and Barbara Walton, both of Chicago, and Mary Jones of Kankakee, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five stepchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

James Franklin Graham Jr.

PADUCAH, Ky. – James Franklin Graham Jr. died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was 77.

Mr. Graham was born in Vicksburg.

He was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired as shop superintendent at Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.

He was a recipient of the Duke of Paducah and Kentucky Colonel awards from his local and state governments, was chairman of the Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens Board and did volunteer work with the Western Baptist Hospital Auxiliary, the Paducah Parks Department, the RSVP program, the American Red Cross and the United Way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Graham Sr. and Tinnie Milner Graham, and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Jewell Marie Sibley Graham; two sisters, Shirley Ann Essner of Benton, Mo., and Linda Faye Thompson of Stockbridge, Ga.; one son, James Everett Graham of Paducah; one sister, Nancy Trueman of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Rogers Tracy Graham and Joe Edward Graham, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Milner & Orr of Paducah. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Col. Henry Clay Kirk

Col. Henry Clay Kirk, a longtime resident of Columbus, Miss., died after a brief illness at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Scott Reiber, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake Prairie Cemetery in Lowell, Ind., where he will be interred beside Frances Dahl Kirk, his wife of 56 years.

Col. Kirk was born at the family farm near Winfield, Ala., on Jan. 10, 1922. He attended Wayside Elementary School and graduated from Wayside High School in 1940. While attending Auburn University, he was drafted in 1943 into the United States Army. After basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C., he completed officer candidate school at Fort Sill, Okla., in June 1944, Commissioned Field Artillery, and was assigned to the 102nd Infantry Division in European Theater. Col. Kirk served as an artillery forward observer with an infantry rifle company and as executive officer of an artillery firing battery. At the end of World War II, his unit encountered Soviet forces along the Elbe River.

In 1947, he married Margaret Frances Dahl of Lowell.

During the early 1950s, then captain, he was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division along the 38th Parallel in Korea. There, he directed artillery fires and air support for the United Nations forces in the Chorwon Sector during the bitter battles in the latter stages of the Korean War.

His third conflict began in the central highlands of the Republic of Vietnam in August of 1967. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division where he eventually became the division artillery commander. While in Vietnam he was selected for promotion to colonel, transferred to Army Headquarters, and assigned as Army artillery officer where he was responsible for positioning artillery units through the country.

Between wars he completed requirements for his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. He attended the Field Artillery officer advanced course, the Army command and General Staff college, and commanded an artillery battalion in the 35th Field Artillery. After retirement from the Army in 1974, he managed shopping malls, enjoyed raising and training bird dogs, and traveled extensively in the United States and Canada with his wife, Frances.

He is survived by Frederick C. Kirk of Gainesville, Ga.; Dr. James P. Kirk; a daughter-in-law, Karen W. Kirk; and two grandsons, Sam and Lee Kirk of Vicksburg.

Blanche Johnson Loviza

MONROE – Blanche Johnson Loviza died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 94.

Mrs. Loviza was born in Monroe to Wellman H. and Margaret Martin Johnson. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Our Lady of Fatima Altar Society, Our Lady of Fatima Pioneers Club and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She was a charter member of The Club 60 Primetime Seniorcisers and participated in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo P. Loviza; a son, Leo E. Loviza; and a grandson, Jeffery S. Loviza.

Survivors include one son, Wellman J. Loviza of Seabrook, N.H.; seven grandchildren; friends, including Billy and Pat McClendon of West Monroe; and other relatives, including Joe Loviza and Myrtle Curro, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Puthuppally officiating. Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at Mulhearn Funeral Home’s Sterlington Road chapel with a wake at 6:30.

Pallbearers will be O.W. Johnson, Joe Loviza, Billy McClendon, Simmie Wood, John McClendon and Bob Kelly.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
