City offices thanked for firefighter tribute

Published 11:00 pm Saturday, June 2, 2012

To the City of Vicksburg/Warren County, mayor, fire department, sheriff’s department, Vicksburg Police Department, city/county employees and all who contributed to expressions of respect, honor, love and gratitude for one of our own heroic firefighters, Mr. Jimmy R. Gibbs.

The fire department should be commended for the show of respect for one of their own by being at each intersection as the funeral procession passed, and the tributes of firemen in full uniform at attention giving salutes with a show of horns and lights from the fire trucks was an awesome sight.

And lastly, as the procession approached the final resting place of our friend and classmate, it did the heart good to see the gigantic flag of the United States, supported on one of the larger firetrucks, flying high, as a final tribute to Jimmy’s service to his country and his hometown of Vicksburg. Again, Thank you.
