Police release photo of shooting suspect

Vicksburg police have released a photo of a man they are looking for in a shooting reported Wednesday night.

Jarrod Lee, 24, 1710 Bodley St., is accused of shooting Travis Stewart, 29, Eastview Apartments, 1900 Baldwin Ferry Road, in front of his home Wednesday evening, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Travis Stewart was taken to River Region Medical Center for injuries to his ankle and has been released, said Stewart.

Police also are looking for the maroon Chevrolet  Caprice, Mississippi tag WAH 281, in which Lee was a passenger at the time of the shooting, Stewart said.

The driver of the vehicle has not been identified.

Police are asking if anyone has information on Lee’s whereabouts, to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511.

6 from Rolling Fork jailed in drug raid

Six Rolling Fork residents are among 150 people arrested in a 26-county drug sweep by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and local law enforcement officials.

The sweep was conducted over three days and netted $97,773 in U.S. currency and $57,150 in illegal narcotics, said a press release from Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director Marshall Fisher.

Crack, powder cocaine, marijuana, liquid codeine and 14 weapons were confiscated, Fisher said.

Sharkey County Chief Deputy Stanley Coleman said the six arrested in Sharkey County were in the Issaquena County Jail this morning. They are:

• Arthur Myles, 27, 107 Pine St., charged with two counts of sale of crack cocaine and held on a $50,000 bond.

• George Myles, 28, 71 N. Fourth St., charged with two counts of sale of marijuana and two counts of sale of crack cocaine and held on $100,000 bond.

• Drake McKnight, 25, 34 Collette St., charged with two counts of sale of crack cocaine and held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

• Rodney Jones, 34, no physical address available, charged with one count of sale of crack cocaine and held on a $50,000 bond.

• Leroy Mason Jr., 27, 355 North St., charged with two counts of sale of marijuana and held on a $75,000 bond.

• Roderick Myles, 26, 71 N. Fourth St., charged with two counts of sale of crack cocaine and held for MDOC.

Coleman said this morning, he anticipates more arrests in Sharkey County.

In addition to Sharkey, the arrests were in Benton, Clay, Covington, DeSoto, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Hinds, Jefferson Davis, Jackson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Leake, Marion, Neshoba, Noxubee, Perry, Pike, Quitman, Simpson, Stone, Tate, Tunica and Walthall counties.

Monroe woman held for Vicksburg crime

A Monroe woman was being held in the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center for the Vicksburg Police Department on a grand larceny charge this morning.

Estella Conley, 48, 611 Greenwood Drive, was arrested at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at her workplace and was waiting extradition back to Vicksburg, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the VPD.

Conley is accused of taking a gaming cash ticket valued at $815, which belonged to someone else at Ameristar Casino on May 15, said Stewart.

She will face a grand larceny charge after she is extradited, said Stewart.

Stove reported missing on Buck Street

A residential burglary was reported in the city at 7:58 a.m. Thursday.

A GE stove valued at $400 was reported missing from a home in the 900 block of Buck Street.
