Calling all ghosts and ghouls — events set for Halloween weekend offer opportunities for some spooky fun.

Spooky Pooch Contest

The annual fundraiser for Paws Rescue, a no-kill animal adoption agency, will be Oct. 29 at the Outlets at Vicksburg.

Awards will be given for Most Creative, Best Owner/Pet Duo, Spookiest and Silliest. Proceeds will help pets in need.

Halloween Costume Contest

and Treats on the Streets

The 24th annual downtown event for kids will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 at Veto and Washington streets.

First, second and third place trophies will be awarded, and a parade along Washington Street will follow. Also, stick around for trick-or-treating with downtown merchants.

Youths in Vicksburg and Warren County may don their scariest attire and trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
