Samuel Jeffrey Cox

Samuel Jeffrey Cox died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 54.

Born in Vicksburg he was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in the Class of 1976. Jeff was the former owner and manager of Vicksburg Paint and Glass Company and, at the time of his death, was owner and manager of Cox and Son Construction Company. His passion in life was his family, hunting and his devotion to friends. He will be remembered for his character and warm personality. He was a member of numerous professional organizations and a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by daughter, Lynzie Anne Cox of Brandon; son, Chad Edward Cox of Hattiesburg; grandson, Jeffrey Chase Yearwood of Brandon; mother, Jeanette G. Cox of Vicksburg; two brothers, Christopher A. Cox of Brandon and Perry N. Cox of Madison.

He was predeceased by his father, Edward R. Cox; and a brother, Steven Edward Cox.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, MS 39183. Private interment services will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be his lifelong friends including Joe Bonelli, Bob Anderton, Doyle Lee, Alex Shiers, Robert Jarvis, Charles Toney and Sam Cox.
