TALLULAH — Jackie E. Townsend died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.

Born in Madison Parish, Mr. Townsend graduated from Tallulah High School before serving in the Navy for more than 20 years. He retired as a pipeworker for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a former scoutmaster for Troop 55 of Tallulah.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Townsend of Tallulah; and a brother, George Allen Townsend.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Lan Townsend of Tallulah; two sons, Van Townsend and Danny Townsend, both of Denver; one granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home
