Fifth person arrested in shooting

Vicksburg police have arrested a fifth man in a May 2 shooting incident that occurred in the 700 block of First North Street, Lt. Sandra Williams said.

She said Gary Guise, 28, of Farmer Street, was arrested Thursday afternoon at the police department on a warrant charging him with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling and two counts of attempted aggravated assault. He was being held at the police station without bond, pending an initial appearance today in Municipal Court.

Police said the shooting occurred just before 5 a.m. May 2 and involved several individuals. Four other men were arrested soon after the shooting and charged with multiple counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting into a vehicle, and aggravated assault.

At least three weapons and an undetermined number of shell casings were recovered at the crime scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
