Ammons offering basketball lessons

 Clear Creek Ladies golf report

On Wednesday, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its June retirees scramble. Winning team members were Doug Dick, Brad Heisler, Ron Pownall and Don Watt. The team of Joyce Johnson, Larry Cook, Jimmy Stabler and David Wright placed second, while Dinah Lazor, Richard Cooper, Donnie Frith and Rodney McHann took third.

Linda McHann and Keith Gordon hit the longest drives. Linda McHann, Eddie Fowler and Jim Hines took closest-to-the-pin awards. Chip-ins were made by Sherron Engdahl, Jane Loboda, Robert Baudo, Heisler, John Nelson and Stabler.

The Bud Light 2-Man Scramble will be held June 21 and 22 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The entry fee is $250 per team, and includes mulligans, green fee, cart fees, lunch, a practice round and drinks. One long drive and four closest to the hole prizes will be awarded each day, with a minimum value of $500. Prizes will also be awarded for first through fourth place in each of six flights, bases on a 72-team field.

 Golf, tennis, swim camp at VCC

Vicksburg Country Club will host a youth golf, swimming and tennis camp Tuesday through Friday. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and the registration fee is $180. The camps are open to the general public, and are for children ages 3 and up.

Additional golf, tennis and swim camps will be held June 24-27, July 8-11, July 15-19, July 22-25, and Aug. 5-8.

 Cannon Soccer tryouts

Tryouts for the Cannon Soccer Club’s competitive program will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., and June 17 at 6 p.m. at the Vicksburg Soccer Organization Complex in Bovina. The tryouts are for players ages 9-18.

 Summer tennis at Halls Ferry

The City of Vicksburg’s summer youth tennis program will begin Monday at Halls Ferry Park. The program will run Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon, and on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Individual matches will be played from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by junior team tennis from 10 a.m. to noon.

 Atlanta Braves tryout camp

The Atlanta Braves will host their annual tryout camp Wednesday at Trustmark Park. The camp is for players ages 16-22. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and tryouts at 10.

The tryouts are free. Players should bring their own cleats and gloves.
