The body of a man found in a burned home on Old Mount Alban Road has been positively identified as a Warren County car dealer.
An autopsy at the Mississippi State Crime Lab identified the man as 76-year-old George Grey, Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess said.
He died of smoke inhalation and heat-related injuries, Bailess said. The fire was ruled accidental and is believed to be electrical in nature, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Grey owned River City Auto Sales with his son, Randy Grey, who died in 2012.
George Grey’s body was found Sunday night at his home at 230 Old Mount Alban Road.
Warren County Deputies discovered the Old Mount Alban Road home on fire at about 8 p.m. Sunday after noticing smoke east of Vicksburg.
It was unclear how long the house had been on fire before it was reported.
Volunteer firefighters from Culkin and Bovina extinguished the blaze and discovered Grey inside the home.
The fatal fire is the first reported in Vicksburg or Warren County this year.
In 2013, two people died as a result of kitchen fires in Vicksburg.
