Ruth Sessums Hobson

Ruth Sessums Hobson, age 103, passed away March 2, 2015, at St. Catherine Village in Madison.

She was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Lena, and graduated from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain.

After graduation, she taught at Walnut for several years.  She received her master’s degree in education and school administration in 1961 from Mississippi College and later moved to Jackson, where she taught for 21 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and a member of Truth Seekers Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, when he was 47 years old; and her two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Jim Hobson (Kay) of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Jay Hobson (Salli) of Vicksburg and Joe Hobson of Jackson; and four great-grandchildren, Clark Hobson and Mallory Hobson of Vicksburg, and McKinley Hobson and Jackson Hobson of Long Beach.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
