“Witnesses said Fabian Armstead was shooting at victim Hakeem McCloud,” Edwards said. “Surveillance coverage supported that. While he was shooting at McCloud, he struck a vehicle traveling westbound on Clay Street. Police did contact that person as well.”

Neither McCloud nor the occupants of the vehicle were injured.

“He did not hit him,” Edwards said. “We never did discover what was the reason for the confrontation. Once Mr. Armstead started shooting, McCloud ran away on foot.”

Armstead had his first appearance in front of Municipal Judge Toni Terrett Friday and is being held in Warren County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

Friday at 12:16 a.m. VPD officers responded to a call of a trespass less than larceny at 1950 Hope St. Edwards said it started as an auto theft investigation, but it was determined the complainant’s friend had taken his car, a 2000 Nissan Maxima.

Edwards said the car has been returned and no arrests have been made in the case.
