Services for Rosie Mary Powell are to be held on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral home with the Rabbi Ahemetabee Malachi Jeroodedek Ben-Israel officiating. Interment will follow in the House of Israel Burial Grounds in Braxton in Simpson County.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, Nov. 14 in the funeral home from 6-7 p.m.

Rosie Mary Powell passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in her home following a sudden illness. She was 74. She was retired from the Corps of Engineers and was a member of the House of Israel Cultural Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Emma Atkins Burnett; her brothers Archie Lee Burnett Jr., John Albert Burnett and Elmer Burnett.

She is survived by her two sons, Anthony Powell and Kevin Powell, both of Vicksburg; her two daughters, Angela Winters of Indianapolis, Ind. and Bridgette Crowder of Rivera Beach, Fla.; her two  brothers Nathaniel Burnett of Vicksburg and Stanley Burnett of West Palm Beach, Fla.;  her seven sisters Jeanette Dotson of Vicksburg, Esther Wilson of Aurora, Ill., Helen Washington of Rivera Beach, Fla., Gloria Maxey, Linda Burnett, Judy Huell and Joyce Barnfield all of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
