The Mississippi State Department of Health Thursday reported an increase of just three cases of the COVID-19 virus in Warren County. This is an 80 percent decrease from new cases reported over the previous two days, which brought a combined number of 15 new cases in the county.

The number of confirmed cases now stands at 68.

Statewide, the number of confirmed cases grew to 6,815, an increase of 246. The number of virus-related deaths increased by 11 overnight, now totaling 261.

Wednesday, the MSDH reported a new statistic showing that 3,413 cases of the state’s total number should now be considered “presumed recovered.” In Warren County, using some of the metrics provided by the state, as many as 16 of the county’s 68 total cases should now be considered “presumed recovered.”

According to the state, a case would be “presumed recovered” if:

• It has been 14 days or more since the case tested positive if they were not hospitalized

• It has been 21 days or more since the case tested positive if they were hospitalized or hospitalization was unknown.

Since the state does not provide county-by-county stats in this area, The Post used the number of cases that were documented on April 16, which would have been at the 14-day mark.
