One free on deprivation charge

A Warren County woman accused of causing harm to a child through deprivation was free on bail Wednesday.

Tamekka Slade, 37, 3120 South Frontage Road Apt. 606, was arrested Wednesday and charged with child deprivation of necessaries with substantial harm, according to Warren County jail records.

The Vicksburg Police Department obtained a report from the Department of Human Resources advising a juvenile was suffering from severe malnutrition, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble said.

The juvenile was transported to Merit Health River Region Medical Center and then to University of Mississippi Medical Center where bruising and bedsores were also discovered, Kimble said. A search warrant found the home not in a state where the child had been properly cared for, Kimble said.

Judge Lewis Burke set bond at $2,000, Kimble said.

 

Three free on conspiracy charge

Three Warren County men accused of stealing from yards were free on bail Thursday.

Sean Wilson, 22, 6005 Castle Road; Corey Cook, 19, 2032 Reagan Island Road; Joshua Ashley, 18, 2060 Yorktown Road, were arrested Thursday and charged with conspiracy to commit grand larceny, according to Warren County jail records.

Three boats, two Yeti coolers, boat paddles, fishing equipment, a marine boat battery and battery charger, lawn equipment and tools were all stolen in five separate thefts during the month of April from yards on Queen’s Point, the 400 and 900 blocks of Lakeside Drive and the 6000 block of Castle Road, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.

Sheriff Martin Pace said nearly everything stolen has been recovered, and the case is still under investigation.

 

One held for assault

A Warren County woman accused of assaulting another woman was held without bail Friday.

Theresa Odem, 37, 140 Kattie Warner Drive, was arrested and is being held pending her initial court appearance, Kimble said.

At 8:30 p.m. Thursday an assault call came in from 733 Johnson, Kimble said. The victim was transported to Merit Health River Region Medical Center with a slash wound in her left arm, Kimble said.

 

One held for weapon possession

A Vicksburg man accused of being a criminal and having a weapon was held without bail Thursday.

Jason Skinner, 24, 310 Dogwood Lake Drive, was arrested Wednesday and charged with weapon possession by a felon, according to Warren County jail records.

Skinner was pulled over in a traffic stop near the intersection on Mission 66 and Clay Street when the handgun was found, and a records check discovered Skinner had been charged with burglary in February 2012, Kimble said.

Bond was set at $25,000, Kimble said.

 

Wreck on Fisher Ferry

Three people were taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center Thursday following a wreck on Fisher Ferry.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, Michelle Evans, 37, 4032 Old Highway 18 Apt. 8B, Hermanville, was driving southbound on Fisher Ferry near the Goodrum intersection when her 1998 Nissan Maxima collided head-on with a northbound 2015 Dodge Challenger driven by Michael Hudson, 57, 6216 Fisher Ferry and passenger Karen Bobb, 57, 6212 Fisher Ferry, Pace said.

Evans was cited for not having insurance, Pace said. All were transported by ambulance to River Region, and the accident remains under investigation, Pace said.

 

One held for MDOC

A Vicksburg man was held without bail Thursday for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Perry Moore, 34, 1200 Mission 66, was held in the Warren County jail Thursday on a warrant from MDOC for probation violation, according to Warren County jail records.

 

Wire stolen

Wire was missing Thursday following a theft reported Thursday in Warren County.

A utility company employee reported a 260-foot utility wire valued at $1,200 had been cut down on the 2500 block of Warriors Trail, according to Warren County sheriff’s records.
