PATRICIA MOORE

CARY Patricia “Jean” Moore died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 49.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Willie “Mack” Moore of Cary; three sons, Terriel Moore of Texas, Roderick Moore of Chicago and Anthony Moore of Cary; two daughters, Tronica Lawrence of Cleveland and Monica Moore of Cary; her father, Cornelius Armstrong of Cary; and seven brothers, Robert Lee Armstrong, Cornelius Armstrong Jr. and Frank Armstrong, all of Memphis, Walter Armstrong of Ohio, Luster Armstrong of Alabama, Dean Armstrong of Florida and Rodney Armstrong of Cary.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope M.B. Church in Blanton with Roosevelt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Community Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

SAMUEL ROSS JR.

Services for Samuel “Junior” Ross Jr. will be at noon Monday at Word of Faith Christian Center with the Rev. Hubie Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Ross died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. He was 23.

A former resident of Vicksburg, he worked as a security guard in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Cleveland Ross and Harry Burns.

He is survived by one son, Jerimiah Warren of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Aaliyah Ross and Ashley Ross, both of Jackson, and Justice Warren of Minneapolis; his mother, Jeannie Burns Ross of Jackson; his father, Samuel Ross Sr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Larry Burns of Vicksburg and David Burns of Jackson; three sisters, Carolyn B. Dart of Vicksburg, Lisa Ross of Clinton and Jennell Ross of Garland, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Christine Buchanan of Vicksburg; and his maternal grandmother, Gary Burns of Vicksburg.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Word of Faith Christian Center with the Rev. Hubie Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

CORRIE MAE McCOOL STRICKLAND

LOUISVILLE Corrie Mae McCool Strickland died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Cleveland, Miss. She was 93.

Mrs. Strickland lived in Louisville most of her life. A retired florist, she was a member of the Louisville Presbyterian Church and Louisville Chapter No. 60 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Louisville Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Charles McCool and Mary Belle Coleman McCool; her husband, Virgil Strickland; a brother, Walter Thomas McCool; and three sisters, Dolly Hathorn, Waldine Russell and Annie B. Gipson.

Survivors include a son, Virgil “Buddy” Strickland of Cleveland, formerly of Vicksburg; one brother, David McCool of Louisville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tilghman Funeral Home in Louisville with the Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children in Columbus.
