William Davis walks out of the Big Kmart off Pemberton Square Boulevard Sunday with a handful of bags as Kmart Receiving Manager Eddie Jenkins takes down the store’s closing sign on the last day of business. Some items in the store were marked down 75 to 90 percent to clear inventory from the building. The Vicksburg Kmart is among 284 nationwide being closed since the retailer filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January. The 87,000-square-foot store opened in July 1991 and employed about 70 people.(The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
