“Jason did a really good job,” Thunder coach Joe Graves said. “He was aggressive and challenged their hitters.”

The Thunder offense battered four Riverside pitchers for two runs in the first, eight in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth. The game ended after five innings.

Charlie Amborn went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two singles, while Rob Jones went 4-for-4 as well. Drew Mazzanti, Lance Warnock and Joseph Martin each had two hits and Kyle Richards had a double. Every starter for the Thunder had at least one hit.

In the nightcap, Vicksburg went five innings without scoring a run and trailed 7-0 before making a late charge.

The Thunder scored six runs in the final two innings and had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but a full-count strikeout ended the game.

Amborn had an inside-the-park home run and Brown had two hits.

Andy Wiles took the loss.

The Thunder will travel to Manchester Academy on Friday.
