NELSON ANDERSON
Nelson “Poochie” Anderson died today, Nov. 27, 2002, at his home. He was 46.
Mr. Anderson was an EVS lead supervisor at Ameristar Casino. A graduate of Vicksburg High School, he was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Coreain Anderson; his father, Lell Anderson Sr.; and three brothers, Tommy Curtis, Oscar Anderson and Lell Anderson Jr.
He is survived by one son, Jerome Anderson of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Sammie Boyd and Mary A. Jackson, both of Vicksburg, and Estella Louise Grauex of Baytown, Texas; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Dorothy N. Owens of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
COLONIA MAE HOOD HEARD
UTICA Colonia Mae Hood Heard died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at her son’s home in Pearl. She was 92.
A homemaker, Mrs. Heard was born in Copiah County. She was a longtime member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Dentville, then a longtime member of Utica Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Elijah Hood Sr. and Martha Sue Anderson Hood, and her husband, Marion Berch Heard Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Marion B. Heard Jr. of Pearl and Harold D. Heard of Madison; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Utica Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben James officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Bluff Cemetery in Dentville.
Visitation will be from noon until the service at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157; Pine Bluff Cemetery Association in Dentville; or Utica Baptist Church.
RUBY PURVIS McCANN
UTICA Ruby Purvis McCann died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Crossgates Nursing Home in Brandon. She was 90.
Born in Rankin County, Mrs. McCann had been a Utica resident most of her life. She was a member of Utica Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. “Bill” McCann.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley M. Everette of Jackson and Freddie M. Key of Vicksburg; one brother, Jimmy Purvis of Vicksburg; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Utica Christian Church with the Revs. Lucian Lee and John Canning officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until the service at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Mike Allen, Gordon Harkins, Lamar Currie, Lee Herren, Murray Griffin and Gene Griffin.
WILLIE JAMES MOORE
ROLLING FORK Willie James Moore died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 72.
Mr. Moore was a resident of Rolling Fork.
Services were today at Mount Ollie M.B. Church Cemetery in Egremont. Burial followed under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
HARMONY DIVINE OUSLEY
ROLLING FORK Harmony Divine Ousley, infant daughter of Roderick Montgomery and LaShara Ousley of Rolling Fork, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at River Region Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Kimberly Ousley and RedDreeka Ousley, both of Rolling Fork; and one brother, Keuntey Ousley of Rolling Fork.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at Danover Cemetery in Egremont. Burial followed under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.
