[2/28/03]The first batter in the first inning scored a run for Lawrence County (1-0) and it held up in a 1-0 victory over Warren Central (1-1) on Thursday.

Ashley Autman hit a blooping single in the infield and scored on a Gina McClaud triple one of six hits for Lawrence County in the victory.

Warren Central’s Lauren Anderson pitched a complete game and struck out six to take the loss.

Kelly Stokes struck out 11 Lady Vikes and allowed one hit each to Lyn Strawn and Anna Mitchell.

“I think the weather has a lot to do with our hitting,” WC coach Lucy Young said. “We just haven’t been able to hit live pitching in such a long time. We need more practice time.”

WC is scheduled to play four games on Saturday at Northwest Rankin starting at 9 a.m.
