[3/7/03]Behind a 39 from Chase Smith and a 41 from Don Marcus, St. Aloysius held off Vicksburg High by four strokes to win their golf match on Thursday at the Vicksburg Country Club.

Brett Bailess shot a 45 in the 9-hole event, and Will Sobecki and Nick Whitney each scored a 50 as St. Al finished with a 175.

VHS’ Bill Hassell medaled with a 37, while Kyle Christian had a 46, Justin Stokes shot a 47 and Houston Steelman shot a 49. Vicksburg had a 179 total score.

Madison-St. Joseph finished third, while Warren Central took fourth.

Brandon Lewis shot a 47 for WC, while Chad Bounds had a 48, Russell Sumrall had a 49 and T.C. Alexander had a 50.
