Altee Linson Nickson
Services for Altee Linson Nickson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Weathersby officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nickson died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.
A native of Brookhaven, Mrs. Nickson was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Issac Nickson, and a daughter, Darlene Carson Tobias.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Linson of Vicksburg and Valerie Otis of Jackson; three sisters, Ester Carter, Maggie Carter and Jotel Carter, all of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Clayton A. Strong Sr.
Clayton A. Strong Sr. died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at his home. He was 71.
Mr. Strong had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 50 years. He was a retired tool and die maker. He had worked for Westinghouse, the U.S. government and Bechtel Inc., and he had owned and operated Strong Tool Shop.
He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason of the Dentville Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Alan Strong, and two sisters, Thelma Jacks and Cleo Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Romano Strong of Vicksburg; two sons, Steven R. Strong of Vicksburg and Clayton A. Strong Jr. of Pearl; four daughters, Patricia M. Andrews of Pearl, Sondra Trosclair of Jackson, Sheri Castanon of Rialto, Calif., and Katherine Nosrat of Diamond Bar, Calif.; one brother, Phillip J. Strong of Hazlehurst; one sister, Frankie Patterson of Vicksburg; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Rob Futral officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Patterson, Herbert Strong, Russell Walker, Sam Varnell, Joseph Romano, Bill Hanes, Peyton Fulgham and Josh Strong.
Honorary pallbearers will be R.J. Samuell, J.C. Pittman, Harvey Landers, Billy Faught, Bobby Johnson, Wesley Pritchard and Harry Easley.
