Freshman Gordon tosses gem as Vikings shut out North Pike

[3/11/03]Freshman Josh Gordon tossed a two-hit shutout in Warren Central’s 10-0 win over North Pike in the McComb spring break tournament.

Gordon struck out five, walked none and allowed two first-inning singles before retiring the final 16 batters in order. The game was called after the sixth inning.

Neil Tillotson had three doubles and two RBIs to raise his average to a gaudy .565, and Jeremy Ferguson and Tom Corbin each had a solo home run. Allen Carlisle had a single, double and scored two runs, John Rice Pettway and Mark Different had a pair of singles each and Darryl Harper had an RBI double.

Vicksburg lost to Houston, Tenn., 9-2 at Madison Central. Individual stats were not reported.

Also, in the Capital Classic, Forest Hill beat St. Aloysius, 5-4. Individual stats were not reported.
