Flashes win match at VCC

[3/21/03]St. Aloysius’ home-course advantage again paid dividends on Thursday.

The Flashes shot a combined 172 for a one-stroke lead over Cathedral at the Vicksburg Country Club.

Chase Smith, whose father is the club pro for VCC, shot a 38 on the nine-hole event and was the top finisher among the five teams.

Don Marcus and Brett Bailess each had a 44 and Will Sobecki shot a 46.

Cathedral finished second and Madison-St. Joseph took third with a 174.

On Wednesday, Clinton took a 10-stroke win over Vicksburg, even though the Gators’ Bill Hassell medaled with a 46, the top finisher for the match.
