Gators take 46 strokes off last meet to take 2nd place

[3/28/03]The last time Vicksburg High played an 18-hole event, the team shot a combined 358 and finished nowhere near the top of the leaderboard.

On Thursday in Natchez, the Gators shaved 46 strokes off the last 18-hole meet and took second place, five strokes behind meet-winner Loyd Star.

Bill Hassell continued his torrid pace with a 71, while Elliott Flaggs shot a 76, Justin Stokes shot an 80 and Kyle Christian shot an 85.

Hassell, who shot par for the event, is 4-over for the season.

St. Andrew’s and Natchez Cathedral tied for third place with a 313 and St. Aloysius shot a 320 for fifth place.

Warren Central shot a 368.

Individual results for St. Aloysius and Warren Central were not reported this morning.

The Gators will host the Vicksburg Invitational on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina.
