Kerut no-hits St. Joe; VHS bombs Ridgeland

[4/3/03]Sarah Kerut threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 14 batters as St. Aloysius slammed Greenville-St. Joe, 12-1.

Kerut walked three in the first inning and one of them scored for the lone St. Joe run. At the plate, she was 2-for-4 with a single, double and two RBIs.

Laura Beth Lyons had four hits and two RBIs, while Ashley Magee had two hits and two RBIs. Kelly Haden had two RBIs and Candice Park had an RBI.

The Lady Flashes (10-1) will play host to Mize in a division showdown today at 5:30 p.m.

Vicksburg 17, Ridgeland 7

Holly Head and Cherelle Stamps each had three hits to lead the Missy Gators’ 16-hit assault against Ridgeland.

Stamps had three RBIs and Head had two. Katie Jenkins and Kelsey Hudson had two hits and three RBIs each, while Lauren Johnson had two hits and two RBIs and Porshia Ferguson had two hits and an RBI. Shannon Arnold and Heather Shelby added two RBIs each and Brandi Head had an RBI single.

Johnson pitched four innings to get the win.

The Missy Gators were scheduled to play at Warren Central today at 5:30.
