Freddie Oliver Galtney

LORMAN Freddie Oliver Galtney died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at his home in Lorman. He was 34.

Mr. Galtney was a member of Waterloo Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Oliver and Ella Mae Hayes; and his paternal grandparents, Rowan and Marie Galtney.

Survivors include his parents, Lillie Pearl Patton and David Lamar Galtney Sr., both of Lorman; a sister, Annie Lee Galtney of Lorman; three brothers, Clarence Hayes, David Lamar Galtney Jr. and Charley Galtney, all of Lorman; and other relatives and friends.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Waterloo Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Waterloo Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Jeanette Smith McGowan

Services for Jeanette Smith McGowan will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holly Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. R.L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGowan died April 4, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 93.

She was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church, where she served on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McGowan, and her son, Wilbert McGowan.

Survivors include two daughters, Flora Jean Coleman of Vicksburg and Joyce Ellis of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and other relatives including, Elsie McDowell of Las Vegas, Nev., Mildred Ellison and Carolyn Dee, both of Oakland, Calif., Trina McDowell of New Jersey and Kathryn Fountain of Vicksburg.

Charlie V. Perkins

STAMFORD, Conn. Charlie V. Perkins died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at her home. She was 79.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Perkins was a resident of Stamford, Conn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Perkins; and a granddaughter, Tiawana Perkins.

Survivors include three daughters, Doreen Noel and Thelma Perkins-Traylor, both of Bridgeport, Conn., and Arteleia Perkins of Stamford; a sister, Vebeia Cook of Waukegan, Ill.; a brother, John White of Chicago; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and relatives and friends in Vicksburg.

Services will be at noon Friday at Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stamford under the direction of Baker Funeral Services in Norwalk, Conn.

Cornelius Caldwell Ware

Services for Cornelius Caldwell Ware will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bright Morning Star M.B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Ware died Sunday, April, 6, 2003, at Heritage House Nursing Center. She was 87.

A retired cook, Mrs. Ware was a member of Daughter of Elks, Eureka Temple No. 737 and Bright Morning Star M.B. Church where she sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Ware; her parents, Jonas and Rebecca Caldwell; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include a great-niece and caretaker, Brenda Gibbs Williams of Vicksburg; and other relatives including, the Caldwell, White, Adams and Gibbs families.
