Floyd Harley Allen
Floyd Harley Allen died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 75.
Born in Latta, S.C., Mr. Allen was a retired engineer. He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in civil engineering. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II, and a veteran of the Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Bud Allen and Fronnie Jackson Harouff, and two brothers, S.J. Allen and Ralph Allen.
He is survived by a brother, Randy Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Evelyn Arrington of Maxton, N.C., and Joyce Zipantas of Tampa, Fla.; his stepmother, Marie Whittington Allen; and other relatives and friends, including Cindy Allen and Kelly Sellers, both of Latta, and Pat Hurst and Susan Warren, both of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Catfish Creek Baptist Church in Latta under the direction of Kannaday Funeral Home.

Kate Blair Anding
JACKSON Kate Blair Anding died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 93.
Mrs. Anding was a native of Gallman and a longtime resident of Jackson. She was a graduate of Whitworth College, where she majored in music.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Bible Class. She was a member of the Les Doubles and Amity luncheon clubs.
Mrs. Anding was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Chester Anding Jr., and her son, Clarence Ramsey Anding.
She is survived by a daughter, Blair Cullen of Jackson; a son, Warren Grafton Anding of Vicksburg; her sister, Vivian Aubert of Gulfport; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight and from 1 p.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

John L. Coleman
Services for John L. Coleman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jackson Street M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.
Mr. Coleman died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 65.
Born in Claiborne County, Mr. Coleman was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He was retired from Dual Carpet and a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret McGriggs; his parents, Prentiss Coleman Sr. and Mary Turner Handy; two sisters, Lucille Cloud and Wilenna Smith; and two brothers, Prentiss “Slick” Coleman Jr. and Bennie Handy.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Coleman of Vicksburg; a daughter, Johnita Coleman of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Ida Donaldson of Los Angeles; two stepsons, William Stewart and Christopher Stewart, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Ida Mae Evans of Vicksburg; two brothers, Leon Handy of Vicksburg and Johnny Handy of Chicago; three grandchildren; and other relatives including, the Coleman, Butler, Turner, Smith, Evans, Yancy and Slaughter families, all of Vicksburg.
George M. Hearn
Services for George M. Hearn will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Revs. Tom Shreve and Paul Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Bradley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Hearn died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his home. He was 59.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hearn was the son of the late Robert Excell and Evie I. Powell Hearn. He worked for Westinghouse and Cooper Lighting Co. for 42 years.
He was a veteran of the Army and a member of Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wayne Hearn.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Faye Hearn of Vicksburg; one son, Nelson E. Hearn of Vicksburg; a daughter, Melissa Ann “Leisa” Collins of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Howard Hearn and Robert Lee Hearn, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth “Doll” Mathes and Nita L. Curtis, both of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Davis, Dean Hearn, Roger Lester, Glen Worthy, Kelley Worthy, Jerry Davidson, Reed Birdsong and Dean Hearn Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Bo Jones, Randy Williams, Ray Case, J.B. Middleton, Bob Hope, Ernest Hilderbrand and the Feeder Department at Cooper Lighting.
