Nine Flashes qualify for South State meet

[4/18/03]Nine St. Aloysius track and field athletes advanced to the South State meet with fourth place or better finishes at the division track meet.
The Flashes finished third as a team, and collected five individual first-place finishes and a first-place relay team.
Austin Golding took first in the pole vault and Robert Biedenharn took first in the shot put. Other first-place finishers were Scott Fife in the 3,200-meter run, John David Hosemann in the 800, and Phillip Hattaway in the 1,600.
The 4×400 relay team of Daniel Edney, Cowan Conway, Hosemann and Hattaway claimed first place with a time of 3 minutes, 52 seconds.
John Parks (shot put), Peter Zalasko (discus) and Edney (3,200) each recorded second-place finishes.
Michael Cooper (high jump) and Hattaway (800 run) earned third places, and Conway took fourth in the 300 intermediate hurdles.
The South State meet is set for May 3 in Gulfport.
