Terrell Ellis
UTICA Terrell Ellis died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 24.
Mr. Ellis was a resident of Utica.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Harper-Ellis of Utica; two sons, Terrell Ellis Jr. and Darius Ellis, both of Utica; a daughter, Caszreaum Harper of Utica; his mother, Bertha Ellis of Pattison; his father, James Ellis of Pattison; two sisters, Latasha Selmon of Pattison and Janice Thorpe of Tillman, Miss.; a brother, Ray Charles Brinston of Yazoo City; his maternal grandmother, Annie White of Pattison; his paternal grandmother, Irene Jackson of Pattison; aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at A.W. Watson Elementary School Gymnasium with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at White Hall Church Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at the funeral home chapel and from noon until the service Saturday at the school.
Alonzo Green Sr.
Services for Alonzo “Mickey” Green Sr. will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. F.W. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Green died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 54.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aubra Green; his mother, Alberta Fonville Moore; his grandmother, Carrie Holmes; and his stepfather, Leonard Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Singleton Green; three sons, James Lee, Alonzo Green Jr. and Perry Green, all of Vicksburg; five daughters, LaRubin Warfield, Chantay Lawrence, Danielle Lawrence and Dominique Washington, all of Vicksburg, and Xenia Green of Brandon; two brothers, Leonard Moore of Vicksburg and James Earl Moore of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Catherine Green of Vicksburg, Connie Green Smith of Indianapolis and Carolyn Green Banks of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Gross Mosley
Services for Mary Gross Mosley will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Gardner Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Tree Cemetery in Bovina.
Mrs. Mosley died Monday, July 14, 2003, at River Region West Campus. She was 90.
She was retired from Queen Quality Laundry in Detroit. She was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.
Mrs. Mosley was preceded in death by her husband, Lafayette Mosley; two sons, Nealy Gross and Willie F. Jones; one daughter, Gertrude Mitchell; three brothers, Winfield Woodhouse, James Woodhouse and Jessie Addison; her mother, Gertrude Green Woodhouse; her father, Frank Prentiss; and two sisters, Florence Moore and Annie Cook.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jones and Lubertha McGowan, both of Detroit, and Connie Wells of Vicksburg; one brother, Samuel Woodhouse of Saginaw, Mich.; four sisters, Miltie Delacruz of San Francisco, Mariah Bills of Memphis, Emma Meeks of Vicksburg and Rosie Duckett of Los Angeles; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Winfield Woodhouse.
Atwood G. O’Connor
Atwood G. O’Connor died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 99.
A native of Port Gibson, Mrs. O’Connor lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She was the daughter of the late Uriah A. and Emma Slayton Gill. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. O’Connor, and a daughter, Evelyn Lillard.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Laura Lillard of Jackson.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. P.J. Curley of St. Michael Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday.
Jerrell Q. Smith
PORT GIBSON Jerrell Q. Smith died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 68.
Mr. Smith was an operator at Southern Natural Gas Co. for 22 years and was a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Lawrence Q. Smith of Silver City, Miss.; a daughter, Geraldine Merrell of New Hebron, Miss.; one sister, Johnnie V. Magee of Prentiss; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss. Burial will follow at New Hebron Cemetery.
Riles Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
Moserine Tillman
Services for Moserine “Sister” Tillman will be at 9 a.m. Sunday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Tillman died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 89.
A homemaker, Mrs. Tillman was a member and former usher at Mount Olive M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Tillman; three brothers, Robinson Davis, Volley Davis and Jake Davis; a sister, Edith Davis Carlisle; and her parents, Pearl and Annie Brown Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Mona L. Tillman of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary E. Maxwell of Altadena, Calif.; one sister, Catherine Murray of Cosby, Miss.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
