Dan R. Cole

FRANKLIN, Ark. Dan R. Cole died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at his home near Franklin, Ark. He was 84.

Mr. Cole was born in D’Lo, Miss., to the late Dan R. and Callie Duke Cole. He was a former member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Vicksburg. He had worked as an electrician.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Pannell Cole of Franklin; three sons, Randel Dan Cole of Franklin and Barry Gene Cole and Marion Cole, both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Yokena Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Martha D. Gentry

NEWELLTON Martha D. “Boots” Gentry died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 82.

Born in Newellton, Miss Gentry lived in Natchez for 35 years. She owned a children’s day-care center and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Austin Gentry.

She is survived by four sisters, Mary Ann Netterville and Lynn Thompson, both of Tallulah, Gwen “Lady” Tindell of St. Joseph and Lela Wiggins of Vidalia, La.; one brother, Johnny Smith of Newellton; and other relatives, including Mary Frances Coronis of Monroe.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. Walter Brown officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 5 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Angie Lena Holman

ISOLA Angie Lena Holman died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 93.

A homemaker, Mrs. Holman was a lifelong resident of Isola.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Young Holman.

She is survived by two sons, David Holman of Jackson and Larry Holman of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Scott Holman of Memphis, Kristin Holman Taylor of Birmingham, Ala., and Kelsi Holman of Columbus, Ga.; and one great-grandchild.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Mortimer Funeral Home in Belzoni with the Rev. Sam Dodd officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness.

Minnie Evelyn King

OAK GROVE Minnie Evelyn “Bootsy” King died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove. She was 84.

Mrs. King was born in Gloster, Miss., and was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hettie and Felix Hughes Anders; one son, Sammy King; and a granddaughter, Kimberly King Owens.

She is survived by a son, Phillip King of Humble, Texas; two daughters, Evelyn Leach of Fairfield, Texas, and Maxie Marenghi of Marietta, Ga.; one brother, John Felix Anders of Ferriday, La.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Glenda West of Oak Grove.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Revs. Milton Pray and Jeff Jinks officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Justin King, Dennis King, Ron Leach, Don Leach, Jay Nevils and Jamie Arnold.

Brooke Bloodworth Lampkin

Brooke Bloodworth Lampkin died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 23.

Mrs. Lampkin was born in Eudora, Ark., and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1982. A graduate of Porters Chapel Academy, she attended Hinds Community College. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar E. Robertson.

Survivors include her husband, Randall Dean Lampkin of Vicksburg; one son, Riley Dean Lampkin of Vicksburg; her father, Stanley Bloodworth Sr. of Winona; her mother, Linda Halford of Vicksburg; a brother, Stanley “Bubba” Bloodworth of Vicksburg; and her paternal grandparents, Stanford Bloodworth of Winona and Shirley Cupstid of Jackson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy M. Lampkin, Jay Prince, Paul Koestler, Les Newton, Robert “Bo” Newton and Craig Newton.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
