HERMANVILLE Services for Annis “Lightning” McBride will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Pattison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at Thompson Funeral Home and at the church from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service.

Mr. McBride died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jasper Ruffin, Marshall Ruffin and Mill Ruffin; and four sisters, Ethel Davis, Willie Russell, Matilda Sorrels and Emma Lee Shanks.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie L. McBride of Carpenter; four daughters, Brenda Henderson of Carpenter and Mary Shorter, Vera McBride and Betty Jones, all of Hermanville; three sons, Robert McBride of Vicksburg, Pearl Jones of Chicago and J.D. Williams of Russum; four sisters, Johnnie James and Willie V. Gusta, both of Port Gibson, Frankie B. Nicks of Carlisle and Bertha Ruffin of Natchez; three brothers, Robert McBride and Ervin Ruffin, both of Chicago, and Louis Ruffin of Waukegan, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Ray Banks of Hermanville.

Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Evans, J.C. Shorter, Dannie Porter, John Obie, Otis Walls and Adam Wells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McBride, Pearl Jones, James Williams, Leroy Williams, Johnny Williams and Ray Henderson.

Lucian Ira Noland

DELHI Lucian Ira Noland died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Delhi Hospital. He was 88.

A native of Epps, Mr. Noland was a longtime resident of East Carroll Parish. He was a member of Pentecost Tabernacle Church in Delhi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Noland, and his parents, Henry and Mary Noland.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Noland of Delhi; three daughters, Elaine Bell of Lake Providence, Linda Hawsey of St. Joseph and Sharon Carpenter of Vicksburg; two sons, Wayne Noland of Jonesboro, La., and Royce Noland of Munden, Kan.; a sister, Betty Brewer of Rayville, La.; four stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Shane Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
